Is It Time to Wager on High School Sports? You Bet!
It was only a matter of time and apparently that time is now. Sports betting will soon be available for high school sports through Joker's Wild. Tennis will be the first sport to test this offering this spring.

"Nothing will make fans focus more than to have money riding on a second serve of a 14 year old freshman boy on a windy, spring day," stated one enthusiastic grandparent. He continued, "I barely knew how to keep score but now I know the over / under of all of my grandson's potential opponents." He also added, "He's a nice kid, but it's not like I'm betting on him to win every match. He's lucky if he gets his first serve in 20% of the time."
Will this put more pressure on officials to make difficult calls? Not really. Tennis rarely has officials so fans will be deputized to help make the crucial calls. An app from a prominent social media company will be provided to enable fans to quickly crowd-source close calls. A Joker's Wild spokesperson added, "We chose a social media company to provide this app due to their long-term track record of providing accurate and thoughtful information."
Acting OTZ president, Zoey Gerber, stated through an interpreter, "OhioTennisZone will not benefit directly from this new endeavor, but we do anticipate that fans will use OTZ's analytics to identify good opportunities." She added, "Parents and fans have always shown how mature they can be around youth athletics. The natural extension of this will be betting on kids' t-ball leagues during the summers. You can count on OhioTennisZone to soon launch T-BallZone.com just as it has for platform tennis (PlatformTennisZone.com) and pickleball (PickleballZone.com)."
